Wood restoration on the Sunshine Coast

Franz Krutsky has worked with wood for a living since 1987 — first in Prague, restoring the interiors of Renaissance and Baroque churches, and since 2015 from a workshop in West Sechelt.

What Franz does

If it is made of wood and it matters to you, it is worth asking about

Why bring your work here

Almost forty years, one trade

Since 1987 — thirty-nine years of it, without a change of career.

Trained on work that could not be replaced

In Prague, Franz restored the inlaid sacristy furniture of the Church of St Nicholas in the Lesser Town, the altar of the Infant Jesus of Prague, and the choir stalls of the monastery church at Plasy.

Hand tools and traditional methods

The joinery, the finishes and the way a piece is put back together are the ones he learned in the workshops of Prague.

One person does the work

You talk to Franz. Franz does the work. Nobody hands your grandmother's dresser to an apprentice.

How a job works

  1. 1

    Tell him about it

Send photographs with your enquiry — it is the fastest way to a real answer.

  2. 2

    Assessment and quote

Franz tells you what is wrong, what he would do, and what it costs. This is free.

  3. 3

    Into the workshop

You arrange bringing the piece to West Sechelt, or for boats and fitted work, Franz comes to you.

  4. 4

    The work, with updates

Nothing significant changes without a conversation first.

  5. 5

    Back to you

Finished, and ready for another lifetime.

There is no price list, and any woodworker who gives you one is guessing. What is certain: assessment and quoting cost nothing, and photographs get you a faster, more accurate answer than a description alone.
