Most cabinets sold today are boxes of coated particle board, assembled with dowels and screws, sized to a catalogue and destined for a landfill in fifteen years. That is not what this is.

Franz Krutsky builds cabinetry and finishing carpentry from solid wood, using the joinery he learned in Prague and has practised since 1987 — the same techniques that have held Renaissance and Baroque interiors together for four hundred years.

What makes it different

Solid wood and traditional joinery

Real timber, cut and joined the way furniture is built. It can be repaired in fifty years, because it was built to be worth repairing.

Carved detail almost nobody else can offer

Franz is a carver by training. The same hands that restored Baroque ornament in Prague can put genuine carved work into a mantel, a panel or a cabinet door — not routed decoration, actual carving.

Work that matches an older house

Sunshine Coast houses have character worth keeping. Franz makes new work that matches existing trim, mouldings and proportions, so an addition does not announce itself as an addition.

You talk to the person who is going to make it

Franz works directly with homeowners — no salesperson relaying it to a factory. He works across Sechelt, Gibsons, Roberts Creek and Halfmoon Bay from the workshop in West Sechelt, and takes special projects in Vancouver. Custom work is scheduled in advance, so start the conversation earlier than you think you need to, especially for kitchens.
