Franz Krutsky works across five kinds of job. They look different from the outside, but they draw on the same skills — the ones he has used since 1987, first on Prague's church interiors and now from a workshop in West Sechelt.

Heirlooms, antiques, and pieces that have simply been used hard. Loose joints, damaged surfaces, missing parts, water and sun damage. Also the everyday repairs — a chair that will not stop wobbling, a drawer that has not opened properly in years.

Brightwork, cabin joinery and repairs to wooden vessels. Franz works at the boat where the boat has to stay, and removable pieces come back to the workshop.

Carving to commission — figurative and religious work, architectural ornament, carved signs and lettering, memorial pieces. Franz also restores carved and painted work that has been damaged or lost detail.

Furniture and carving come to the West Sechelt workshop. Boats and fitted carpentry are done where they are.
If Franz finds something unexpected once he is into a piece, you will know before he acts on it.

What it costs
Two chairs that look identical can need an hour's work or a week's — it depends on what was done to them before, what is underneath the finish, and what you want the finished piece to be. Franz can only price a job once he has seen it.
What is certain: assessment and quoting cost nothing, and photographs get you a faster, more accurate answer than a description alone.
